Škoda Museum
In the new ŠKODA Museum in Mladá Boleslav – the birthplace and most important production site of Škoda – the historic factory halls, where cars were still being produced until 1925, create a fascinating and authentic context. Visitors are taken on a captivating journey through time with 46 highlights from the collection of one of the world’s oldest and most traditional automotive brands.
The exhibition does not follow a strict chronology but is structured into three main thematic areas, each translated into memorable spatial compositions: “Tradition,” “Evolution,” and “Precision.”
The “Tradition” section presents three pairs of cars from different eras, symbolizing three brand values of Škoda: pride, everyday life, and challenge. Each pair is assigned a large semi-transparent glass display case, whose exhibits tell documentary, unusual, and deeply personal stories, placing people and their relationship to the brand at the center.
At the heart of the “Evolution” section, a chronologically arranged fleet of vehicles illustrates the most important milestones in Škoda’s development history. It is accompanied by a technical gallery documenting technological innovations, as well as a four-storey car shelving installation in which 20 classic cars can be playfully arranged and exchanged.
Production and restoration take center stage in the “Precision” exhibition area. The scenography presents four vehicles on four lifting platforms, each in a different stage of restoration, illustrating the key steps from barn find to finished showpiece. In addition to the spatial staging of objects, the new Škoda Museum also uses films and interactive elements to guide visitors through time and bring stationary vehicles to life.
