POST Luxembourg “Timeline”

Poetic Cloud of Light

In the summer of 2023, POST Luxembourg inaugurated its new headquarters, HELIX, designed and built by the architecture firm metaform. The building owes its name to the 30-meter-high, helix-shaped spiral staircase in its atrium. The headquarters provides modern work and community spaces for around 850 employees. At the entrance of the building, visitors are welcomed by an impressive light installation with more than 100 OLEDs, designed and developed in collaboration with luxwerk manufaktur für lichttechnik GmbH.

The “Timeline” in the new POST Luxembourg headquarters not only illuminates the entrance hall – it also tells the story of the company and its vision for the future. The cloud-shaped, 16-meter-long installation consists of 300 suspended elements, including historical stamps, photographs, and interactive QR codes. These “leaves” are illuminated by 112 delicate OLED lights, a technology that produces very high light intensity while generating not technical, but atmospheric light. This allows the lighting mood to be adapted to the building’s natural light.

“We wanted an element that expands, that fills the space with its presence rather than its volume. We thought of the phenomenon of leaves on trees that change color and fall in autumn. We have frozen these falling leaves in time. The idea is also like a stack of letters thrown into the air,” explains Prof. Thomas Hundt, Managing Director of jangled nerves.

The installation is designed as a modular and evolving system, allowing POST Luxembourg to replace entire sections or even individual elements of the structure in order to continuously develop its story.
