Luxembourg Pavilion Expo 2025 Osaka

Doki Doki – The Luxembourg Heartbeat

An immersive spatial experience in three acts - jangled nerves designed the Luxembourg Pavilion for EXPO 2025 in Osaka and gave it its own heartbeat through its interactive staging and visionary human experience.

“Doki Doki” - the sound of a heart beating faster with excitement; Japanese onomatopoeia and leitmotif of the Luxembourg Pavilion at EXPO 2025 in Osaka. The consistent implementation of the leitmotif “Doki Doki - The Luxembourg Heartbeat” makes the pulse of Luxembourg palpable: In moments of closeness, co-creation and amazement. A real experience for visitors and for jangled nerves, who are developing the scenographic concept with which the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is presenting itself at a world exhibition for the second time in a row. ‍

After opening with a pre-show, the first act is a space for encounters. Here, the people of Luxembourg welcome visitors and tell them what it means to them to be a part of Luxembourg. On life-size screens, they face the guests of the pavilion directly; physical dioramas of their lives intertwine with their stories. The personal stories create a dialogical atmosphere, almost as if you were there yourself.

In the second act, visitors experience Luxembourg as a pioneer that drives innovative ideas and is involved in sustainable projects worldwide. Projects that are playfully explored at arcade terminals and sent into the world, a floating LED sphere, in a cooperative music game. In a joint synchronization moment, the “Doki Doki” feeling becomes tangible, the individual heartbeats unite and set off fireworks on the globe.

Finally, the third act is a place of longing and raises the narrative to an emotional level. In an immersive body-on, visitors are immersed in a poetic world of sound, landscape and culture. Sitting on an elastic net, they fly over Luxembourg and experience the Grand Duchy up close. Surrounded by a panoramic film on four LEDs - including floor and ceiling LEDs - the boundaries between the real and virtual worlds become blurred. A sensory experience that brings Luxembourg closer. The pavilion at the EXPO in Osaka becomes a resonating space for what Luxembourg is - open, innovative, connected. And makes the heart beat not only in the room, but also in those who enter it.
