The spatial media-based exhibition concept for the Porsche pavilion in Wolfsburg’s Autostadt enables visitors to behold the characteristic features of the marque at a single glance. Evolutionary continuity, the art of engineering and the fascination of the sports car are united in a single, memorable image.
A swarm of 25 silver model cars at a scale of 1:3, starting with the original Porsche model – a 356 no. 1 from 1948 – flows dynamically into the room and symbolically embodies the development of the car series and racing cars. By means of their reduction to the essential lines and proportions the one-off pieces, manufactured in a factory in Turin, illustrate the unmistakable Porsche DNA. The jump in scale from the models to three original representatives of the current vehicle range marks the transition to the present. The formal language and contours of the current Porsche 911, Boxster and Panamera are perfectly presented against the background of the black interior.
The swarm and vehicles are embedded in a media-generated aural and filmic space that adds a sensory dimension to the big picture. Interactive tablet computers provide explanatory pictorial and textual material. A technological lexicon that documents the technical engineering standards of the Porsche marque rounds off the virtual presentation.
